Saawariya: Movie Review
A treat for the eyes, this movie is for the discerning movie go-er. A simple love story, narrated like a fairy tale. You might have rarely come across a movie in Bollywood which has used art so intelligently. Only a seasoned director like Bhansali could pull this off, and his efforts have paid off. Cant predict much about the Box office success since SRK seems to have bought out most of our critics and news channels...
Ranbir is a superstar in the making and Sonam, though has a washy role, looks pretty and promising. Rani's perfomance was noteworthy and Salman's two scene role, although not the central one, was just too sketchy (he vanishes off for a year, pray where?). The costumes and choreography, complement the situations and the actors perfectly. The music deserves a special mention, Yoon Shabnami and Jab se tere naina, top notch, this. Although we could have done with fewer songs, like the one in the beginning(10 songs in a 2 hour movie).
I recommend this movie if you are an aesthete, though if you are looking solely for entertainment, Saawariya is not it.
